Two students arrested for burglary and grand theft

GIFFORD — Two students, a Gifford Alternative School, and a Freshman Learning Center, ninth grader, face charges of burglary and grand theft, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in the 3800 block of 47th street about a burglary in progress Monday around 2 p.m., according to authorities. A witness said they saw a male trying to break in using something to bust out a window. The same person was seen running from the house with a television.

Within 10 minutes a K-9 unit saw two subjects in the 3900 block of 46th place that matched the description of the person who was seen earlier breaking into the house, said the report.

After being taken into custody, the juvenile told authorities he was responsible for breaking the window and stealing the television. A second person that was also taken into custody was the lookout.

Because the suspects are juveniles, VeroNews.com’s policy is not to name them.
