SELF hires new clean energy specialist

SEBASTIAN — The non-profit Solar and Energy Loan Fund (SELF) welcomes Gerald Deredita to the SELF team. The new “Clean Energy Specialist” resides in Sebastian and will assist the organization with regional expansion into Indian River and Brevard Counties.

Deredita is a BPI Certified Building Analyst and professional energy efficiency consultant. His past experience includes coordinating a community weatherization program for a coalition of agencies in North Central Florida and work as an energy auditor conducting whole house audits for low income families and individuals.

He specializes in working with non-profit agencies to assist members of the low income, disabled, elderly community improve their quality of life by way of diagnostic testing, client education about energy consumption behaviors, and installation of energy efficiency measures and retrofits.

Deredita will assist property owners with identifying energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions, financing options, and project management. He will also work closely with local governments, contractors, and civic organizations to help cultivate the SELF program.

The non-profit Solar and Energy Loan Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping homeowners identify and make cost-effective home energy retrofits. To date, SELF has financed more than $2 million of home energy retrofits in the Treasure Coast Region.
