Sheriff’s Office looking for missing Vero Beach man

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Sheriff’s Office is searching for Thomas Hoffman, 60, of Vero Beach, who has been reported missing.

He was last seen on Feb. 5, when his father dropped him off at a hotel in the 1700 block of US 1, according to authorities. Detectives confirmed that Hoffman paid for a night at the hotel, but he has not been seen since.

On Feb. 7th, Hoffman’s ATM card was used at a bank in the 2000 block of 58th Avenue, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The attached photographs show the ATM transaction, however the man in the photographs is not Hoffman.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the man in the photographs. Hoffman has a history of mental illness and drug use.

“We are concerned about Mr. Hoffman and want to make sure he is okay. Someone knows the man in these photos and the location of Mr. Hoffman. Help us find Mr. Hoffman for his family,” said Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar.

Anyone with information about the man in the photos or this case are urged to call Det. Kevin Heinig at (772) 978-6121. Please reference case 2014-24572. You can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 by calling the Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 800-273-TIPS (8477).
