Dorothy Mary Overholt, 91, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 11, 2014, following a four-month battle with multiple strokes.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Guerrin; daughter, Susan Prock; sons Ron, Tom, and Kenny; five grandchildren, Richie, Christine, Ryan, Jessica, and Colby; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Santos Guerrin, and her mother, Mary Dixie Dougherty, brother, Tom Guerrin, and husband, Kent Morgan Overholt.
She was born in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 10, 1923, and grew up on a farm in Canton, Mass. In 1943 at the age of 20, she enlisted in the Coast Guard as a SPAR and was proud to be in the first group of women to do so.
She worked as an interior decorator in San Francisco, a Real Estate Broker for 33 years, and at the age of 87 passed her series six securities license so she could sell insurance. She lived on a ranch in Oregon for 15 years and was proud of her organic garden. She had a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh.
