INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Three Indian River County schools recently received nearly $15,000 in donations from various community groups to help with sports, music and science.
The Indian River County School Board unanimously approved accepting the donations as presented on the Board’s Consent Agenda Tuesday evening.
Beachland Elementary School received $2,100 from the Mardy Fish Children’s Foundation, which will be used for the tennis and basketball spring programs.
The school also received $5,385.75 from the Beachland Elementary School PTA. The school will use $3,000 for teacher classroom supplies and $2,385.75 to purchase the Sciencesaurus for second through fifth graders.
The Vero Beach Opera donated $1,000 to Vero Beach High School to be used for the school’s Chorus Department.
And the Sebastian Clambake Foundation donated $1,250 to Sebastian River High School to help the school’s rugby team. The team will use the funds to pay entry fees, offset travel expenses, and purchase supplies and equipment.
The high school also received $5,000 from the Sebastian River High School Band Boosters to pay for uniforms, travel, supplies, and offset the cost of the end-of-year banquet for the Chorus Department.
