Homeless man threatens juveniles in Gifford with gun

GIFFORD — Four kids riding their bikes in the 2300 block of 42nd Street in Gifford were threatened by a homeless man with a gun, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Terry Glispy, 61, came out of the woods and pointed the gun at them, authorities said. One of the bicyclists rode back to his house and told his mom what happened. She then called 911 to report the incident.

“You all need to get out of here or I will shoot you,” said Glispy, according to the report. Glispy was located by authorities. The gun pointed at the kids was found to be a BB gun. But, it looked like a real gun, lacking the bright colors, authorities said.

One of the victims was able to identify Glispy, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The bike rider said he was afraid the defendant was really going to shoot them. All of them were afraid for their lives and did not know that the gun pointed at them was a BB gun.

“I don’t know why I am being arrested. I just wanted to scare those kids and I guess it worked,” Glispy repeatedly said on the way to the Indian River County jail, according to authorities.

Glispy faces four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
