School District announces 2014 Volunteers of the Year

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The School District of Indian River County has announced its 2014 Outstanding Volunteers of the Year. Annually, all schools in the District are asked to select senior, adult, and youth volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment to quality education for the students of Indian River County.

This year, 48 volunteers are being honored.

Volunteers are selected based on the number of hours of service, years of service, unusual type of contribution, and/or characteristics of services rendered. Those selected are then considered for the District’s top volunteer in each category. District winners are submitted to the State competition.

Invitations have been mailed to all 48 of the 2014 Outstanding Volunteers of the Year for Indian River County, inviting them to a reception in their honor to be held on March 6 at 4 p.m. at the J. A. Thompson Administrative Center in the Board meeting room.

The 2014 District Senior, Adult, and Youth Volunteers of the Year for the School District of Indian River County will be announced at the reception.

“Our wonderful volunteers give the teachers and students their talent, commitment, time, and love on a daily basis,” said Schools Superintendent Dr. Fran Adams. “They make a huge difference in our lives donating thousands and thousands of hours. I cannot say enough about the valuable service they provide for our teachers and students. They have my deepest gratitude.”
