Paul Smith, 90, Vero Beach

Paul Smith, 90, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 12, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Graciela Toro Smith; son, Alan Michael Smith; daughter, Maria Lucero Smith; grandsons, Colin Michael Smith, and Garrett James Laycock; grandaughter, Sarah Kathleen Laycock; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was born in Arlington, Va., and has been a resident of Vero Beach for 36 years coming from Arlington, Va.

He is a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army in the Occupation of Germany.

Prior to retirement, Smith was a locksmith for the Department of the Treasury Office of Security Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C.

He was a member of The Body in Christ Jesus Baptist Church and The Baptist Brotherhood. He was a former member of The American Legion Post 23, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Washington, D.C., and The Associated Locksmiths of America, Inc.

There will be visitation on Friday Feb. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A funeral service will be held on Saturday Feb. 22, at 11 a.m., at Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
