VERO BEACH — The Vero Friends of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra (ACO) will hold its 2nd Annual President’s Day Luncheon on Monday, Feb. 17, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Vero Beach County Club.
Vero Beach High School’s Sinfonia will perform as part of the annual “friend-raising” event that seeks to raise awareness and recruit new volunteers in support of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra.
“The Vero Friends of the ACO are thrilled to have Vero Beach High School’s Sinfonia join us for our 2nd Annual President’s Day Luncheon,” said Jean Beckert, president of the Vero Friends of the ACO. “As advocates for the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, we encourage and cultivate an appreciation and understanding of classical music. What better way to support the ACO mission than by showcasing some of the community’s most talented young musicians at our ‘friend-raising’ luncheon!”
Vero Beach High School’s Sinfonia is a 15-member chamber orchestra. Under the leadership of orchestra director Matt Stott, the students will present a beautiful 30-minute program featuring works by Bela Bartok and Mendelssohn, including the popular Violin Concerto in e minor. Sinfonia members represent the Vero Beach High School Orchestra, one of only four youth orchestras in the nation selected to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. during the Capital Orchestra Festival in March.
Guests attending the Vero Friends’ 2nd Annual President Day’s Luncheon will enjoy an afternoon of music and socializing while learning more about the volunteer group and its long history of supporting the Atlantic Classical Orchestra and live orchestral music in our community. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., with the formal program beginning at noon. Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased by contacting the Brenda Allen at 772-234-4236.
