Vero Beach Theatre Guild hosts ‘Miracle Worker’ open auditions

VERO BEACH — Under the direction of Ben Earman, the Vero Beach Theatre Guild will be hosting open auditions for “The Miracle Worker” on Feb. 16, 17 and 23 at 7 p.m. The show will be performed May 8 through 18.

It is 1887 in Tuscumbia, Ala., and a great miracle is about to take place. The “miracle worker” is a young woman named Annie Sullivan, recently hired by the desperate parents of a deaf-blind child who is violent, spoiled and almost subhuman.

Only Annie realizes there is a mind and spirit waiting to be rescued from the dark. The world will later know the child as the brilliant Helen Keller.
