INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A would-be home burglar wanted for breaking into another home was caught over the weekend after authorities received a call from an “astute citizen” who reported hearing noises outside her home.
Authorities arrested 33-year-old Ronald Firsdon, of 444 7th Place, Vero Beach, in the area of the 4900 block of 20th Street, after catching him in the wooded brush near the caller’s home. He is being held at the county jail in lieu of $362,500 bond on numerous charges, including burglary of a dwelling with assault and battery and armed burglary of a dwelling.
The woman called around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday to report hearing a “click” sound from outside her home and, after turning on an outside light, seeing a tall, thin white man dressed in dark clothing carrying a dark colored backpack.
By the time authorities arrived at the home, the man had slipped into the wooded brush nearby, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies established a perimeter and tracked the man later identified as Firsdon from the noises he made through the brush and apprehended him.
Firsdon was booked on outstanding warrants and charges in connection to this incident and other burglaries.
Along with felony armed burglary and burglary of a dwelling with assault and battery, Firsdon faces several other charges including third degree grand theft, felony criminal mischief, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest without violence, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
