Genealogical Society presents Online Catalogs – Bridge to Successful Research

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Genealogical Society is pleased to announce that Pamela J. Cooper, Supervisor of the Florida Archive and Genealogy Department of the Indian River County Main Library, will present Online Catalogs, a Bridge to Successful Research at the society’s Feb. 11 meeting.

The meeting will convene at 9:30 a.m. in the library’s large, first floor conference room.

Following a brief business session and refreshments, the program will begin about 10:30.

Cooper’s presentation will detail catalog types, how to search and what kinds of records and documents are found in catalogs.

Examples from the IRC Library catalog will be used as well as demonstrations of WorldCat.org, FamilySearch.org, the Library of Congress catalog and Ancestry.com.

A genealogist since 1977, Cooper is the current President of the Florida State Genealogical Society, a member of the Genealogical Speakers Bureau and the Association of Professional Genealogists.

The IRGS meets on the second Tuesday of the month from September through May, in the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st St., Vero Beach.
