Buffalo Philharmonic to perform Feb. 11

VERO BEACH — The Indian River Symphonic Association, in its third Winter Season Concert, is presenting the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra on Tuesday, Feb. 11. The Concert will feature Dvorak’s Symphony No. 6 in D major, Opus 60, and Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 3 in D minor for Piano and Orchestra, Opus 30 – performed by French Pianist Philippe Bianconi, a Van Cliburn International Competition winner.

JoAnn Falletta, is acclaimed by the New York Times as “one of the finest conductors of her generation.” She serves as Music Director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Phoenix Symphony and the Brevard Music Center.

She has introduced more than 500 works by American composers, including more than 110 world premieres. Honored with 11 ASCAP Awards, Ms. Falletta serves as a member of the National Council on the Arts.

Philippe Bianconi is an acclaimed recital artist, performing with many of America and Europe’s most prestigious orchestras. The Washington Post describes his artistry as “always close to the soul of the music, filling the space with poetry and life.”

The London Times has written: “an extraordinary exhibition of musicianship, technical control and good taste which lent the music a freshness, immediacy and conviction one all too seldom encounters.”
