BONZ: Would you believe Sebastian has 2 American dingoes?

SEBASTIAN — What is it with Sebastian and American dingoes?

Last week, I got a letter from 14-year-old Nony, who said she was an American dingo and wrote: “Imagine my surprise when my parents read me your story about Trouble the dingo.”

Two in Sebastian. What are the odds?

When I met Nony, I thought: “Wowsa, what a knockout.”

Not only was Nony gorgeous, but she was classy-looking, too.

“Hi there, Nony,” I said, flustered by her beauty.

“Hello, Bonzo,” Nony said. “Charmed, I’m sure.”

Huh?

Nony noticed my unease.

“Oh, don’t mind me, Bonzo,” she said. “My humans Gill and Mick Hall are British and sometimes I speak like they do.”

“No worries, Nony,” I said. “You are very charming and I’m delighted you have time for an interview.”

“Well, Bonzo,” Nony said. “Now that I’m a senior dogizen, I prefer to sit and watch the world go by in my beautiful garden. I get my daily exercise by surveying my estate – which entails visiting my neighbors, to keep vigil over the neighborhood. My neighbors all know and love me. They appreciate my surveillance style.”

“Why did your parents name you Nony?” I asked.

“Nony is short for anonymous, Bonzo,” Nony told me. “Back in 2000, I found my Dad Mick when I was roaming around an old airfield in Lake Wales, Florida, where my parents worked.

“I kept returning to the airfield to find Dad. It was Valentine’s Day and when I found Dad, I sat next to him. I wasn’t feeling very well so dad took me to the vet. Mom, Dad and I have been a family ever since.”

“In 2001, my parents and I moved to this pretty town of Sebastian,” Nony continued. “Mom and Dad have turned out to be excellent members of my pack. They start my day with a kiss and a cuddle followed by my favorite treat – a milk bone.”

“Dinner time is different though, Bonzo,” Nony said. “I prefer to dine al fresco while sitting down like a lady should. When my mom rings the dinner bell, I go outside to choose my spot. I never choose the same spot. Mom then places my favorite dinner of tilapia and rice between my paws. I enjoy having a nice, calm and peaceful meal.” “When I’m done with dinner,” Nony said, “I return to the house and stroll to the pantry for dessert. I’ll sniff the bag of my choice and then wait for Mom to bring it to me.”

“By the way, Bonzo,” Nony said. ” Thanks for sharing my story. Now everyone will know there are two dingoes living in Sebastian. And I also thank you for passing on my contact information to Trouble. Hopefully, Trouble and I will meet up and sniff each other out very soon.”

“The pleasure was all mine, Nony,” I said.

Hmm, maybe I should become a matchmaker. Nahh. I’ll stick to being a pet columnist.

Till next time,

The Bonz
