Joyce Jean Rogers Taylor, 73, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 5, 2014.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Taylor; her four children, Patricia Taylor Tankersley (Terry), Joseph E. Taylor (Marie), William “Willie” P. Taylor (April) and Lenore Taylor Owle (Charlie); two brothers, William J. Rogers and Eugene H. Rogers; five grandchildren, Keith Tankersley (Kari), Kristy Tankersley, Lauren Taylor, Lindsay Taylor, Kolby Taylor, Erica Owle; and one great grandchild, Emily Tankersley, all of Vero Beach. She is also survived by a special cousin, Mary Ann Driskell and nieces and nephews that were very close to their “Aunt Joyce.”
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joe and Nora Rogers, and her sister, Irene Shirley Rogers.
She was born Dec. 31, 1940, in Vero Beach. She lived her entire life as a Vero Beach resident and graduated from Vero Beach High School.
Taylor was employed by the Los Angeles Dodgers and Harrison Conference Center for almost 20 years. She was well loved and perfectly suited to a job that revolved around her favorite sport and favorite team. Taylor will be remembered best for her love for family and her open door hospitality. She loved sports and was best remembered by the community as “Nana” and “Aunt Joyce.” She was an avid fan of her kids, grandkids, extended “kids,” Fighting Indians Football and Band and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
A memorial service will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1280 27th Ave., in Vero Beach, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8. Friends may pay their respects to family Friday evening at Lowther Funeral Home, at 1655 27th St., in Vero Beach, from 5 to 7 p.m.
