Indian River Genealogical Society to host Valentine seminar Feb. 8

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Genealogical Society along with three area genealogical societies is pleased to host the 2014 Valentine Genealogy Seminar, on Saturday, Feb. 8. This day-long event requires registration and a fee.

Those presenting the seminar include: Indian River Genealogical Society, Brevard Genealogical Society, Genealogical Society of South Brevard, and the Treasure Coast Genealogical Society.

The speaker will be Dr. John Colletta, of Washington, D.C., one of America’s most popular, entertaining, knowledgeable and experienced genealogical lecturers.

He will discuss the following topics: U.S. Naturalization Records 1790-1930: Sources & Strategies for Challenging Cases; How to Prepare for Successful Research in European Records, Turning Biographical Facts into Real Life Events: How to Build Historical Context; and Hackers, Hookers & Putting Up Pickles: Snare of Yesteryear’s English.

The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richardson Center, IRGS Mueller Campus, Vero Beach. Seating is limited to 140.
