Francis Joseph Deely, 78, Vero Beach

Francis Joseph Deely, 78, of Vero Beach, passed away on Feb. 3, 2014.

Deely is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Deely; daughters, Mary Snyder (Jimmy), Kathy Stamper (J.D.), and Patty Eirls (Mike); sister, Gloria Deely; brothers, James Deely and William Deely; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Minerva Deely; stepmother, Emma Deely; sisters, Patricia Deely and Carol Scholpp.

Deely was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lived in Vero Beach for 41 years coming from Mentor, Ohio.

He graduated from St. Joseph’s in Cleveland, Ohio.

Deely was a veteran of the Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

He owned and operated Frank’s Place for Ribs in Vero Beach and was a member of the Catholic Faith.

Deely was the past Commander of the V.F.W. Post #3918, The American Legion Post #39, The Son’s of American Legion of Vero Beach Post 39 and The Amvets Post #6.

He was also the past President of the Vero Beach Theatre Guild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m., at St. Helen Catholic Church with an Honor Guard Presentation presented by VFW Post 3918.

Interment with Military Honors will take place at the South Florida National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. on Friday Feb. 7.

Strunk Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
