McKee Botanical Garden hosts 5th annual car exhibition

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — On Saturday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the tropical flora and fauna of McKee Botanical Garden will be teeming with Fords! McKee’s Fifth Annual Motor Car Exhibition: Forty-Four Fabulous Fords – From Model T to Ford GT will highlight more than a century of Ford’s automotive ingenuity. It also will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Mustang.

Admission for the event will be specially reduced to $9 for adults and $5 for children.

The juried show will feature some of the finest, most rare Fords from around the state as well as a collection of Mustangs representing the past five decades. Among those appearing in the show will be a 1965 Mustang Fastback, a 1958 Fairlane 500 Skyliner, and a 1959 Galaxie that is the 50 millionth car produced by Ford. A selection of unique motorcycles also will be on display.

“McKee’s 2014 motor car exhibition is our largest to date,” stated McKee Botanical Garden Executive Director Christine Hobart. “It is a must-see event for any automotive enthusiast, and we look forward to sharing this unparalleled collection of ‘fabulous Fords’ with our visitors.”

In addition to viewing the display of Fords throughout the Garden, visitors also will get to see the Seward Johnson Sculpture Exhibition featuring the life-size bronze creations of American artist Seward Johnson. The exhibition, which contains installations from Johnson’s series entitled Celebrating the Familiar and Beyond the Frame, is on view at McKee through April 27.
