Betty Jane (Lee) Petteys, 89, formerly of Sebastian, passed away on Jan. 19, 2014, in Ann Arbor, Mich.
She is survived by daughters, Diane Schumacher (William), and Denise Menge (George); brother Robert Lee (Mary Ann); sister-in-law, Viola (Osmer); grandchildren, Lindsey, Holly, and William Ray Schumacher, and Kate and Richard Menge.
Petteys was born on May 25, 1924, in Linden, Mich., to Robert and Lillian Lee, and grew up in Byron, Mich.
She served in the Navy during World War II and worked for Packard and Grand Trunk Railroad before starting a family. On June 20, 1953, she married Raymond Walter Petteys in Byron and he preceded her in death in 2001.
They lived in Livonia and Bancroft, Mich., before moving to Florida. They lived many years in Barefoot Bay then Sebastian before she returned to Chelsea in 2005. She loved golfing, playing cards, travel, and Wii bowling.
Services were held at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea, Mich.
