Joseph Frankeberger, 82, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 29, 2014.
He was born in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 5, 1931. He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia as well as the University of Maryland. Frankeberger had a long career in intelligence, first with the army in Korea and later with the National Security Agency in Washington, D.C.
Frankeberger retired to Vero Beach in 1980. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Birchard, his sister Joyce Bisset, his brother John, and his stepson William Tiers III.
In 1987, he and Mary Katherine Olney Tiers were married. He is survived by his wife, Kay, and a large family who will greatly miss “Grandpa Joe.” A memorial service will be held later.
