VERO BEACH — Organizers of the Holiday Rec Run and Holiday Rec Party, held Friday, Dec. 6 at Royal Palm Pointe, announce that their goal to raise enough money to keep the fountains open on Sundays for the majority of the year has been met.
“We are so thrilled by the success of the Holiday events,” said Vero Beach Director of Recreation Rob Slezak. “We raised nearly $10,000 which will enable us to keep the fountains running for families on Sundays.”
Nearly 2,000 people made their way to the two events and enjoyed a variety of family fun which included a 2-mile timed run through connecting neighborhoods near the Pointe, followed by a street party that boasted food and craft booths, live music, face-painting, bounce houses, an art auction, Holiday Boat Parade and a visit from Santa Claus.
“The committee has reconvened to discuss possible changes and improvements for next year and we are considering a repeat on Friday Dec. 5 as the 2nd annual Holiday Rec events for 2014,” said Slezak.
