INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An auto burglar – or burglars – hit six vehicles involving seven victims Sunday night into Monday morning, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
According to case reports, victims’ cars were all unlocked, allowing the thief access. The locations included the 3200 block of 3rd Place, the 3300 block of 2nd Place, the 900 block of 32nd Avenue SW, and the 3400 block of 2nd Street.
A Diamondback .380 handgun with two extra magazines was stolen out of a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Pick-Up truck, according to authorities. Dispatch was notified and the gun has been entered into the database.
The burglaries were in a tight geographical group when mapped out, except the theft in the 900 block of 32nd Avenue SW, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
From the 3300 block of 2nd Place a pink camouflaged purse, blue stone bracelet, and $500 in gold/silver chains waiting to be repaired were taken from an unlocked 1995 Toyota Camry, according to authorities.
Two packs of cigarettes were the only items stolen from two of the vehicles, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Six of the seven cases are inactive due to the lack of suspect information, according to authorities.
The case involving the firearm remains active.
Law enforcement reminds the public to lock their vehicles and remove valuables from sight.
