VERO BEACH — The Indian River Symphony Winter Season opens on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Community Church in Vero Beach with the premiere appearance of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
This internationally acclaimed orchestra, now in its 41st year, is renowned for performing without a conductor, integrating its innovative musicians into virtually every facet of its concerts.
This performance is in advance of its four concert season at Carnegie Hall, which premieres four days after its appearance in Vero Beach. Orpheus will explore the history of the concerto, featuring pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii.
Mr. Tsujii is the young Japanese winner of the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, Emperor, in E Flat Major, Op. 73.
The concert will open with Beethoven’s Coriolanus Overture, Op. 62, followed by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 36.
The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra reinvents the way the world thinks about collaboration, outreach, and democratic leadership. With over 70 albums, including Grammy Award winning Shadow Dances: Stravinsky Miniatures, associations with leading soloists and 39 commissioned works, Orpheus continues to undertake innovative projects and new musical adventures around the globe.
