VERO BEACH — Vero Beach Recreation Committee voted 5-0 to recommend to the Vero Beach City Council to allow beach umbrella and chair rentals at South Beach Park.
The committee heard from Scot Caviness, owner of Shark Bait Beach Gear Rentals, on his plan to execute the South Beach rentals. The committee unanimously agreed Caviness and his company are more than fit for the contract and will keep the “Vero Beach lifestyle” intact.
Ten percent of the revenue generated by the rentals will go to the city, along with shared use of an ATV and other equipment.
The committee’s recommendation will now go before City Council in February for a final decision.
