FELLSMERE – Fellsmere residents will have an opportunity to address the City Council on Feb. 6 regarding the city’s annual update to its Capital Improvements Element of the Comprehensive Plan.
The Capital Improvement Element is the portion of the Comprehensive Plan that pertains to the brick-and-mortar construction and hard purchases the city plans to make during any given planning cycle.
The hearing will be held during the regular City Council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. and is held in the Council Chambers located in the building on the southeast corner of County Road 512 and S. Cypress Street.
The fiscal year 2013-14 contains $7.5 million worth of improvements to the water system, waste water, roads, the Old Fellsmere School, the Marian Fell Library, various city buildings, and numerous other projects.
The next fiscal year, 2014-15, estimates approximately $2.3 million worth of capital improvements to be done. Such projects would include the Fellsmere Trailhead Preserve, establishing a wetlands park, stormwater improvements, Rails to Trails, and more road improvements.
