VERO BEACH — On Tuesday, the Vero Beach City Council unanimously approved without any discussion two requests for permission to serve alcohol at community events.
The first event, the Florida Craft Brew and Wingfest, will be hosted by the Vero Beach Sunrise Rotary Club. The event is scheduled to be held on Feb. 22 at Royal Palm Pointe Park.
This will be the third annual event and all proceeds will “benefit the charitable projects of the Vero Beach Sunrise Rotary Club” according to the event’s website.
Unlimited tasting bracelets will be on sale online for $27.85 until 11 p.m on the Thursday preceding the event or at the door for $35 on Saturday.
Attendees also have the option to pay-per-drink at the event.
Food and alcohol-free beverages will also be available for purchase.
Secondly, Main Street Vero Beach, requested permission to serve alcohol at 10 Downtown Friday events, the Hibiscus Festival, and any other fundraising event which Main Street may create during the 2014 year. Under the agreement, the organization cannot to exceed 15 events in total.
Main Street Vero Beach is a non-profit organization that promotes a thriving downtown community.
The organization hosts a “Downtown Friday” event in the evening of every final Friday of the month, excluding December and April. The event occurs along 14th Avenue in Historic Downtown Vero Beach.
Additionally, the sale of alcohol was approved for the Hibiscus Festival Fine Art and Crafts show scheduled for Saturday April 12 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Hibiscus Festival serves as a fundraiser for Main Street Vero Beach.
