INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A Gifford woman has been arrested after a parent found out she was having sex with his son who is 17 years old, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Sonya Brown, 45, of Gifford, was arrested around 6 p.m. Monday after the victim’s parent returned from Georgia, according to authorities. Brown approached him and told the parent that she had sex with his son. He then got angry and asked why she would do that.
The son was immediately confronted, according to the Sheriff’s Office, and he verified it was true. The son said it happened about two days ago. During a second visit from authorities, Brown said she had sexual relations with him and that it was consensual. She also said that she has known him since he was 4 or 5 years old.
Brown faces charges of sexual battery.
