Peter Aloysius Swider Jr, of Sebastian, died Dec. 22, 2013 after a prolonged battle with cardiac and kidney disease.
Swider was born in Newark, N.J., on Dec. 28, 1931, to Peter A and Anne H (Barwikowski) Swider.
He honorably served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He then went on to a career in the shipping business, attaining the rank of captain while plying the waters of the eastern seaboard for various Tugboat companies.
He is predeceased by his parents, sister Teresa Capoocia; daughter Tina A; and son in law Thomas R Vadas.
Survivors include his wife Sally Ann (Genco); his brother John S (Delores); his children Susan (Gary) Metcalf, Peter E (Cindy), David (Sandy) Horvath, Sandie Vadas, Paul D E (Chrissy); and 11 grandchildren.
His service and internment will be on Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. at St Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church 901 Clearmont St., Sebastian.
A repast will follow in the fellowship hall immediately after the ceremony.
