The Dance community is alive and well in Vero Beach

VERO BEACH — The City of Vero Beach Recreation Department will offer dance lessons at the Vero Beach Community Center, which is located at 2266 14th Ave.

Classes will be taught by instructors Joe and Shari Tessier.

Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, Rumba, Cha Cha, and many more classes will be offered in a four week session.

Cost for Tuesday Group Dance Lessons is $8 per person per class. Jan. 7, 2014, from 5:30-6:30 p.m., is the start of the four week session of the Hustle.  

Beginning Line Dance Lessons with Mary and Joe is an ongoing class on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. that can be joined at any time. Cost is $5 per person. We go “slow,” so why say no. Come out and learn new dances like “Pontoon” and the old classics like the “Tush Push.”

Line Dancing is known for meeting and making new friends.  

Country Couples Group Dance Class with Mary and Joe is also an ongoing class that can be joined at any time on Wednesdays from 7–8 p.m. Cost is $6 per person; no partner necessary.

Join Mary and Joe as they take you around the floor, country style. In this class, you will learn to Country Two Step, The Blue Rose, Charleston Bump, Side Kick, Country Rumba, and so much more.  

The City of Vero Beach Recreation Department is sponsoring the Friday Night Dance at the Vero Beach Community Center in downtown Vero Beach.

Your host and hostess at this dance are Jim and Donna Mitchell, playing the music of the 50’s through today’s popular dance tunes. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person.

Upcoming specialty Friday Dances held will be the New Year’s Eve Ball on Dec. 31, the Valentine Ball on Feb. 14, 2014, and the St. Patrick’s Ball on March 14, 2014.
