INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Education Foundation of Indian River County (EF-IRC) is pleased to announce the 22nd Indian River Regional Science and Engineering Fair (IRRSEF) will be held on Feb. 1, 2014 at Gifford Middle School.
Presently, the EF-IRC is seeking volunteers to judge the science fair and sponsors to help underwrite the awards and operation of the IRRSEF.
The IRRSEF serves more than 27 public and private schools in Indian River County. The success of this regional event is attributed to the continued support of the community.
Volunteers are needed to judge kindergarten through 5th grade projects. Additional help is needed to judge secondary projects from grades 6 through 12 in the areas of Behavioral Sciences, Biochemistry, Botany, Computers/Math, Chemistry, Earth & Planetary Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Medicine and Health, Microbiology, Physics, and Zoology.
Elementary judges need to have an understanding of the scientific method and the ability to hear soft voices. Secondary judges need to have a degree or related work experience in science and engineering.
Scientists, business professionals, and retirees are encouraged to sign up online by visiting the Education Foundation’s website: www.EdFoundationIRC.org, calling the office at (772) 564-0034, or by emailing Mary@EdFoundationIRC.org.
The Indian River Regional Science and Engineering Fair is presented in partnership with the School District of Indian River County and is supported by private donations and grant assistance.
