VERO BEACH — Pak Mail Beachside has extended their successful Cell Phones for Soldiers campaign to the Victory Center Military Store located in the east wing of the Indian River Mall, offering free boxes, pick up, and shipping of the phones.
The Victory Center store, which is a nonprofit 501(C)3, sells various types of military items from camo to accessories to flags. Nearly 50% of the store’s funds goes to providing bus transportation to veterans to the West Palm Beach Veterans Medical Center.
“We are veterans serving veterans here, and to know that for each phone donated, troops can have upwards of 2 1/2 hours of talk time to loved ones back home. It was easy for us to say yes,” said Marty Zickert, President of the Veteran’s Council, when asked about the partnership with Pak Mail Beachside to host a Cell Phones for Soldiers box.
Cell Phones for Soldiers was created in 2004 by Robbie and Brittany Bergquiest. On average, the program distributes 12,000 calling cards each week to bases around the world.
To date, Pak Mail Beachside has collected over 100 phones since October and hopes that the second drop off point in the mall will be a wonderful addition to acquire as many phones as possible during the holiday season.
