SELF energizes local economy

ST. LUCIE COUNTY — The nonprofit Solar and Energy Loan Fund (SELF) recognized Sea Coast Air Conditioning as the top performing contractor of 2013 at their Board of Directors meeting.

Sea Coast completed $243,109 of energy efficiency work through the SELF program in fiscal year 2013.

“Our alliance with SELF has created a 30% overall increase in sales,” said John Langel, President of Sea Coast.

“Sea Coast Air Conditioning is a prime example of how qualified, local contractors can benefit from working with our nonprofit organization,” added SELF’s Regional Program Manager Julian Nazario.

SELF helps homeowners identify cost effective energy solutions and provides favorable financing for recommended home energy improvements.

To date, SELF has performed 859 energy audits and assisted with 246 loans, totaling $2.16 million of home energy improvements.

SELF clients are reducing their energy consumption by an average of 23% per household, enhancing their comfort and livability (particularly important for the elderly, children, and persons with disabilities,) and increasing the market value of their homes.

The work generated through the SELF program is also stimulating local green jobs in the hardest hit job sector in Florida (i.e., the construction industry) and creating economic development activity in geographic areas hard hit by the recession and housing market collapse.
