Indian River County woman arrested after argument over wine

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An Indian River County woman has been arrested for domestic violence after she assaulted her husband, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The incident started when the couple was arguing over a bottle of wine.

Law enforcement responded to the 2800 block of 71st Ave. to a disturbance, according to authorities. The victim said he was involved in an argument with his wife, Gretchen Jones, 37.

Jones left their home and got into her car, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The victim then asked “Okay, so now you’re gonna run me over?” Jones responded, saying she was going to call law enforcement and report he was preventing her from leaving.

He then told Jones that he was going to tell law enforcement that she had an open container in her vehicle and that she was intoxicated.

Jones then got out of her vehicle and “punched the s**t out of” the victim, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Jones faces a charge of battery domestic violence.
