Indian River Photo Club Juried Exhibition on view now

VERO BEACH — The Indian River Photo Club’s annual 2013 Juried Print Exhibition will be on view in the Patricia M. Patten Community Gallery in the Hazel Education Wing of the Vero Beach Museum of Art from Saturday, Dec. 7, through Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014. The exhibition of these talented area photographers is free and open to the public.

Fifty photographic prints are displayed. They are the work of members of the Photo Club as well as nonmembers, both professional and amateur. Pictures are grouped in seven categories: People, Nature-flora, Nature-fauna, Scapes, Still Life, Special Techniques, and Open.

This jury consisted of Louis Ciszek, retired professional photographer and photography instructor; Wallace Weeks, a professional travel photographer whose images are represented and distributed by 26 stock agencies that are headquartered in 14 countries; and Aric Attas, MFA Photography from the Hartford Art School and teacher of Photography, Art, and Web design at numerous colleges and universities.

These individuals were selected to judge the 118 entries.  

Ribbons were awarded as follows:

People Category:

1st place – Jim Cohoe, Jeanine; 2nd place – Linda Leonard, The Man in the Park; and 3rd place – Helen DiBenedetto, Primal Instinct.

Nature-flora Category:

1st place – Nancy Wessels, Fungi Forest; 2nd place – Mary Lou Christy, Serenity; 3rd place – Stefania Wright-Osment, White Orchid; and Merit Award 1 – Mia Arrington, Sim-pa-ly Pric-ka-ly, and Merit Award 2 – Debbie Garber, Mediterranean Ball.

Nature-fauna Category:

1st place – Gail Daman, Here Kitty, Kitty; 2nd place – Mike Ricciardi, Reflection; 3rd place – Mike Ricciardi, Christmas on the Reef; and Merit Award – Linda Leonard, Watchful Nester.

Scapes Category:

1st place – Linda Leonard, Santorini; 2nd place – Susan Wright, Built to Last; 3rd place – Billy Ocker, Stormy Sunset at Sebastian Inlet; and Merit Awards – Mia Arrington, Serenity, Joe Cosmano, Life on the Water, and Lisa Willnow, Grand Prismatic Spring.

Still Life Category:

1st place – George Bollis, Jr., Go ahead, Makeup my Day; 2nd place – Lynn Luzzi, The Wash Room; 3rd place – Kay Gibson, Gourd on a Chord.

Special Techniques Category:

1st place – Linda Badgely, Door of Jaisalmer; 2nd place – Kathy Graham, Pipe Dreams; 3rd place – Betsy McKean, Green Seahorse, and Merit Awards – William Conway, Reentry, and Toni Hill, Final Destination.

Open Category:

1st place – David Garrett, Calla Lilies; 2nd place – William Lord, Acceleration; 3rd place – Jim Cohoe, Damaged Goods, and Merit Awards – Donna Green, Radiating, and William Lord, Microcosm.
