Indian River County woman arrested for hitting husband with spatula

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An Indian River County woman was arrested, accused of assaulting her husband with a spatula, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday night around 7:30, the victim fled his home in the 1600 block of 71st Avenue and dialed 911 after he claims to have been assaulted by his wife, Darlene Danahy, 40, according to authorities.

Before an argument, the victim was cooking checking on the grill when Danahy approached him wanting information about another woman’s number on his phone, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

When he denied calling the number 32 times, Danahy accused him of cheating and became violent, authorities said.

During the argument she grabbed a spatula that was on the grill and hit him in the face. Danahy then grabbed the chicken he was cooking and threw it in the pool.

Fearing for his safety, the victim left the residence, according to authorities. He sustained a small laceration on his face and also had what appeared to be chicken pieces in his ear.

Danahy faces a charge of battery domestic violence.
