UPDATE: Bicyclist, driver identified in fatal crash in Vero Lago

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The driver and bicyclist have been identified in today’s fatal crash in the Vero Lago community.

Timothy Desombre, 37, or Cape Canaveral, was identified as the driver of the FedEx box truck, and the deceased bicycle rider was David Koliner, 24, of Vero Beach, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to authorities, Koliner was leaving his home on his bike and failed to notice the truck. Koliner was struck by the front of the truck as he traveled westbound across 45th Avenue and was dragged underneath where he was pinned.

The crash remains under investigation.


INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Indian River County Fire Rescue and the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a traffic death in the Vero Lago community off 58th Avenue.

Authorities were called to the area of 45th Avenue and 56th Place in the community when a person became pinned under a vehicle. The person has since died.

According to authorities on scene, a male bicyclist was struck by a FedEx truck that was heading north on 45th Avenue. The bicyclist became pinned under the vehicle and died on scene.

Neither the bicyclist nor the driver of the FedEx truck have been identified.

Authorities remain on scene while they investigate.
