VERO BEACH — On Sunday, Dec. 8, at 4 p.m., Trinity Episcopal Church will offer its annual Advent Service of Lessons and Carols. The service features seven scripture readings interspersed with congregational hymns, choral carols, and anthems.
The Trinity Choir will sing music by Benjamin Britten, Charles Wood, Boris Ord, and others, including music by Trinity Organist and Choirmaster Dr. Jason Hobratschk.
Ms. Judith Taylor will serve as guest organist and will offer a Recital-Prelude beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Known best in its Christmas form celebrated since 1918 at King’s College, Cambridge, a Service of Lessons and Carols was first organized in 1880 by Edward White Benson, Bishop of Truro, and later Archbishop of Canterbury.
Trinity’s service is a variant of the King’s College Service and focuses on the prophecy and Advent of Jesus Christ.
A free will offering will benefit the music program of Trinity Episcopal Church, and the service will be followed by a wine and cheese reception.
Trinity Episcopal Church is located at 2365 Pine Ave., at the intersection of Royal Palm Blvd. and 10th Ave.
