Woman accused of stealing guns, jewelry, medication from Roseland home

ROSELAND — A 36-year-old woman is in the county jail after authorities say she used her boyfriend’s key to get into his parents’ home in Roseland and stole two guns, jewelry, a brief case, cash and hydrocodone.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested Katina Kauffman, 36, on Monday following a 2-week investigation in to the home burglary that occurred in the 7700 block of 129th Street sometime in early to mid-November.

The homeowners discovered items missing from their home when they searched for a brief case containing legal documents for their son – Kauffman’s boyfriend, with whom Kauffman is living – according to authorities.

The parents called their son who then found the brief case in the trunk of the car he shares with Kauffman. When authorities arrived, they found one piece of jewelry listed as missing, according to the arrest report.

The location of the other missing items, including the guns, was not in the report.

Kauffman faces charges that include two counts each of armed burglary, grand theft of a firearm, third degree grand theft, and providing false information to a pawn broker.
