Fire on City of Fellsmere property deemed arson

FELLLSMERE — The State Fire Marshall has deemed the first that started yesterday at 1037 Vernon Street arson, according to authorities.

The investigation is on going and anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the State Fire Marshal at (561) 640-6741.


10:06 a.m. – FELLSMERE — Fellsmere Police and Indian River County Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire Sunday at a city owned property, according to Fellsmere Police.

The Fellsmere Police Department and members of Indian River County Fire Rescue responded to 1037 Vernon Street to investigate the report of a structure fire. The fire was reported by a passerby and it was extinguished quickly by Indian River Fire Rescue.

The City of Fellsmere owns the property and recently acquired it through foreclosure. The property does not currently have electricity and no assessment of the damage occurred.

Representatives of the State Fire Marshall’s office will resume their investigation today.
