INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A store clerk had his hands bound together as two armed men stole money from the cash register at La Guadalupana convenience store on U.S. 1 Tuesday evening, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
The men tried to conceal their identities with their hooded sweatshirts, masks and bandanas. One was armed with a semi-automatic pistol and the other was carrying a crow bar, according to authorities. The store clerk was able to free his hands from the plastic cable ties and call 9-1-1 at approximately 7:30 p.m.
At this time it is not clear if the bandits raced off on foot or by car from the store at 4690 U.S. 1, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to contact Detective John Finnegan at (772) 978-6122.
