Open House at Environmental Learning Center

WABASSO ISLAND — If you are interested in learning more about our beautiful Indian River environment and possibly volunteering time to support its preservation and the education of others, come to the Environmental Learning Center (ELC) Volunteer Open House from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The ELC staff and volunteers will describe the various opportunities and answer your questions.

There is a variety of volunteer opportunities for both seasonal and year round residents. For example, you might lead Touch Tank encounters in our new Discovery Station, greet visitors and handle sales in our Gift Shop, or help with special events.

For those who enjoy working with their hands, there are gardening, yard care, and maintenance projects on our “Green Team.”

Volunteering at the ELC can be fun and rewarding. The Open House is an ideal way to explore volunteer possibilities without making a commitment. No reservations are required.

The ELC is a nonprofit nature center located north of Vero Beach off CR 510 at the western end of the Wabasso Bridge. Its 64 acre campus includes exhibit areas, native plant gardens, picnic facilities, gift shop, and visitor center.
