INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A pedestrian has died after being struck at Oslo Road near 27th Avenue in Indian River County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Maria Diaz, 71, of Vero Beach, was walking on Oslo Road west of 27th Avenue, according to authorities, when she was struck by a vehicle, driven by Mario Lysaith, of Fort Pierce. Authorities said Lysaith was driving eastbound in the outside turn lane on Oslo Road west of 27th Avenue.
According to the report, Lysaith did not immediately observe Diaz walking in the roadway. The front of the vehicle struck the Diaz. The woman was transported to Indian River Medical Center where she died due to injuries sustained in the crash.
All lanes were shut down as the crash was investigated, according to FHP. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
