Thelma A. Salomonson, 96, Vero Beach

Thelma A. Salomonson, 96, of Vero Beach, and Groton, Conn., died Oct. 31, 2013, at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1917, the daughter of Eugene and Edvardine (Reinertsen) Larsen, of Nantucket, Mass.

The Larsens had emigrated to the United States from Norway in 1910.

Salomonson and her five sisters and one brother were almost all born on the island, and all were raised there, attending the local schools and graduating from Nantucket High School.

When she was 21, Thelma married Hubert W. Salomonson, of Newton, Mass., on Nantucket, on July 23, 1939.

They were married for 67 years, with homes in Groton, Conn., and Key Largo, as Anheuser Busch distributors based in Niantic, Conn.

After retirement, they eventually settled in Vero Beach.

Survivors include her two sons, Peter W. Salomonson, of Vero Beach, and his wife, Debra, and Stephen W. Salomonson of Groton, Conn.; granddaughters, Holly A. Donovan, Heather A. Salomonson, of Niantic, Conn., Stephanie A. Korzeniewski, of Oakdale, Conn.; grandson Matthew W. Salomonson, of Marietta, Ga.; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in Nantucket, Mass., at the convenience of the family.
