Fellsmere man arrested for armed robbery with deadly weapon

FELLSMERE — A Fellsmere man has been arrested for armed robbery in the 1000 block of Vernon Street in Fellsmere, according to the Fellsmere Police Department.

Kareem Coleman, 23, was arrested Saturday around 10:30 p.m., according to police. The victims said they were in the front room of a residence when a black male pointed a gun at the head of one of the victims and said, “Give me the money out of your pockets.”

The victim did not know who the male was who was pointing the gun at his head. Authorities later identified the suspect as Coleman.

During the robbery, another male was going through the victims’ pockets, according to police. The victim said they took around $500.

Then the first male with the gun pointed the weapon at the other victim in the room, saying, “Give me the damn money out of your pockets,” according to authorities. They took around $400 from that victim.

After Fellsmere police responded to the scene, Indian River County units, including a K-9 unit, joined the investigation.

Coleman faces a charge of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and remains in the Indian River County Jail on a bond amount of $250,000.

According to Fellsmere Police Chief Keith Touchberry, this is an ongoing investigation. Police are looking for a person of interest in the case. If anyone has any information concerning this case call FPD at (772) 571-1360.
