William (Bill) J. Ghaney, 89, died October 17, 2013 at Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He was born in Newfoundland, Canada, and moved to Sebastian, coming from Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 1986.
Ghaney retired from New York Telephone Company after serving 20 years as a switchman.
He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian.
He was a volunteer of the month at Lords Table Soup Kitchen in Gifford and Fellsmere.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Agnes Quinn, of New York City, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Antoinette Ghaney, Long Island, N.Y.; many relatives in the US and Canada especially nieces, Joan Kruzykowski (Bill),of Brewster, N.Y., Ann Boyd (Ken) of West Chester, Pa., and Mary Finan (Joe) of Greenwich, N.Y.; nephew, Bill Ghaney (Denise) of Farmingdale, N.Y.; cousins, Joan Hawco (Phonse), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth T. Ghaney, brothers, Tom and Robert.

Visitation was held 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church with Father Kevin O’Boyle, celebrant.
Inurnment was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Sebastian Cemetery.
