Michael C. Wright joins Harvest Food & Outreach

VERO BEACH — Harvest Food & Outreach Center recently announced that Michael C. Wright recently joined the organization’s Indian River County Community Board of Directors.

Wright retired from the U.S. Army in 2003 following 28 years of military service. He is fluent in Spanish and French and has served as pastor for a small, Spanish congregation since 2004. He currently serves eight Florida prisons in a chaplaincy role and is employed at the Indian River Veterans’ Affairs Office in Sebastian, FL.

“We are very excited about welcoming Michael to our board. His expertise regarding services available to veterans, gaps in those services, and how Harvest can best serve veterans is critical to our mission and moving forward in our strategic plan.

We are looking forward to working with him to develop effective outreach services that are uniquely suited to serve the needs of the brave men and women who have served our country through military service,” explained Annabel Robertson, Executive Director of Harvest Food & Outreach Center of Indian River County.

Harvest Food & Outreach Center, founded in 2003 by Austin and Ginny Hunt in Indian River County, provides a holistic, multi-component approach that provides a hand up to those living at or under the 200% federal poverty level.

Harvest’s unique model offers a comprehensive, three-tiered approach to lifting people out of poverty through: 1) a Hunger Relief Program that includes an Emergency Food Box and Cost Share Grocery Program, 2) a Crisis Center that stabilizes people in crisis through counseling and active referrals to services, and 3) Education and Employment Opportunity Programs that address the source of the problem and provide long term solutions for those in need toward self sufficiency.
