Sebastian man arrested for sexual battery on minor

SEBASTIAN — A Sebastian man has been arrested for committing sexual battery on a minor in her home, according to the Sebastian Police Department.

Ashton Terry, 19, has been arrested for committing lewd or lascivious battery on a victim over 12 and under 16, according to authorities.

The victim’s step-mother came home from work and found Terry in bed with the victim, according to police. According to the step-mother Terry was naked when she found them. Terry left and told her that he was the victim’s boyfriend and that he was 19 years old.

The victim told her step-mother that they had been engaged in sexual activity prior to her returning home.

The victim said that they met the previous year at Sebastian River High School, according to authorities. But she said they did not start their relationship until 2013 when she moved back to south Florida. The victim said in an interview that she had intercourse with Terry three times, including this date in the past few weeks, and every time was at her residence when her parents were not at home. She also said that she was aware of Terry’s age.

Terry admitted to being at the victim’s residence, according to police. He said in a police interview that he only talked to the victim. Terry said he did not know the victim’s age. He then admitted that they performed sex acts on each other during this last date which included intercourse.

Terry faces charges of lewd or lascivious battery on a victim over 12 and under 16, according to authorities. He remains in the Indian River County Jail on $25,000 bond. His arraignment is set for today.
