One dead after single car, early morning crash in Indian River County

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Around 3 a.m. a driver crashed the vehicle he was driving resulting in his death, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Ramone Morgan, 39, was driving a 1999 Chrysler 300M when the crash occurred at State Road 60 and 154th Avenue in Indian River County, according to authorities. Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Morgan was not wearing a seat belt, according to FHP. Alcohol use is under investigation. The car sustained $6,000 worth of damage.

For an unknown reason, Morgan lost control of his vehicle as he traveled eastbound, according to authorities. He entered the center grass median then over corrected to the right. Morgan then crossed over both eastbound lanes before overturning the vehicle onto its hood. It came to rest on the south shoulder of SR 60.
