Susan Stolar Nesbitt, 69, died October 20, 2013 after fighting a long battle with cancer.
Nesbitt was born to Harry and Mary Stolar, of Albany, N.Y., on May 27, 1944.
She graduated from Shaker High School in Latham, N.Y., Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa., and earned her Master’s Degree in Education from SUNY Oneonta.
She taught English for two years and then worked full-time raising her three children.
She served the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Community as the director of Religious Education for 20 years and as the lay chaplain for Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta for 13 years.
Survivors include her husband Ben; their three children, Stephen, Jennifer and Kristin; four grandchildren Shea, Kelly Ben and Emma; and many relatives and friends.
A celebration of life was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, at The Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
There will be calling hours in Oneonta, N.Y., on Monday, Oct. 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Lester Grummons Funeral Home and a celebratory mass the next day at St. Mary’s Church on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at 10:15 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to either VNA Hospice of Indian River County or St. Mary’s Church of Oneonta, N.Y.
