UPDATE: Game Stop robbery suspect arrested

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The suspect from the Game Stop robbery of Oct. 10 has been arrested, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Office investigators identified 34-year-old Glenn Carvajal as the suspect in the armed robbery of the Game Stop in Vero Beach last week, according to authorities. The identification was made after several tips were called into the Sheriff’s Office as well as Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers.

Investigators followed other leads and obtained an arrest warrant for Carvajal late yesterday afternoon, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He turned himself in at the Vero Beach Police Department this morning but did not speak to investigators about the robbery. 

At the time of the media release put out by the Sheriff’s Office, he is in the process of being booked into the Indian River County Jail for one count of robbery with a deadly weapon and two counts of grand theft, according to authorities. He will be held on $550,000 bond.

Indian River County Sheriff’s Office detectives are working with investigators from Melbourne and the West Palm Beach area to determine if Carvajal is connected to similar robberies at Game Stops in those locations. 

The address on his driver’s license is in Vero Beach but it is believed he may have been homeless and living in his car in Brevard County at the time of the robbery, according to authorities.


Oct. 10, 4:35 p.m. – INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a person who reportedly robbed the Game Stop, according to authorities.

The suspect in the robbery at Game Stop this morning is believed to have acted alone, according to the Sheriff’s Office. In addition to an undisclosed amount of cash and some merchandise, the suspect took the store employee’s wallet and cell phone. Both the wallet and phone were recovered by deputies near the corner of 66th Avenue and S.R. 60.

The employee was alone at the time of the robbery although another customer had been in the store at the same time as the suspect. The robbery took place after the customer left the store.

Around 11:15 a.m., the Game Stop at 6310 20th Street was robbed by a suspect armed with a handgun, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect is described as a white male with a dark/tanned complexion wearing a green and white sports jersey (possibly Miami Dolphins or New York Jets) with the name “Sanchez” on the back. The suspect was also wearing tan pants and a black ball cap with a red spider logo. He is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds and he has a chipped front tooth.

Witnesses told investigators that the suspect left west bound on State Road 60 in a white compact, 4-door vehicle, according to authorities. No other suspect or vehicle description was available. No injuries were reported.
